Nase
Karamell und Milchtoffee, Rosinen - aber nicht intensiv, holzig aromatisch - sicher vom Fass, nach ein paar Minuten im Glas entwickelt sich eine samtige Süße mit viel Vanilleeinfluss. Sehr harmonische Nase, gefällt.
Geschmack
Weiches Mundgefühl. Vanille Creme Pie mit Rosinen und weißer Zuckerglasur. Dazu Zimt und andere Gewürze wie Nelke und Muskat sowie ein wenig prickelnde Würze von der Eiche. Die Süße ist Gottseidank nicht überbordend, wie zb beim Plantation 20y oder Centenario 20y - sie untermalt eher die anderen Geschmacksaromen.
Abgang
Schöne Fassaromen nun auch mit dunkler Schokolade mit höherem Kakaogehalt und Rosinen am Ende. Bleibt lange wärmend im Mundraum mit einer Menge an Gewürzaromen.
Fazit
Kein Dröner, die Aromen in der Nase und am Gaumen sind dezent und nicht überbordend, sehr ausgewogen. Ein ruhiger, Vanille und Karamell betonter Schmeichler. Die Süße hält sich Gottseidank im Rahmen. Der Malteco 15 Jahre gefällt mir sehr gut. Ist definitv etwas für Leute, die beim Rum die typischen und bekannten Aromen suchen, jedoch keine extremen Zuckerbomben mehr wollen. Er überfordert nicht, ist aber auch für den erfahrenen Rum-Trinker angenehm zu genießen.

Caramel and milk toffee, sultanas - but not intense, woody aromatic - surely from the cask, after a few minutes in the glass a velvety sweetness develops with a lot of vanilla influence. Very harmonious nose, pleasing.
Taste
Soft mouthfeel. Vanilla cream pie with sultanas and white sugar glaze. Plus cinnamon and other spices like clove and nutmeg and a little tingling spice from the oak. The sweetness is thankfully not overbearing, like in the Plantation 20y or Centenario 20y - it rather underpins the other flavours.
Finish
Beautiful cask flavours now also with dark chocolate with higher cocoa content and sultanas at the end. Stays warming in the mouth for a long time with a lot of spice flavours.
Conclusion
Not a loud one, the flavours on the nose and palate are subtle and not overbearing, very balanced. A quiet, vanilla and caramel accented flatterer. The sweetness is thankfully kept within limits. I like the Malteco 15 years very much. It's definitely something for people who are looking for the typical and familiar flavours in rum, but don't want any more extreme sugar bombs. It doesn't overwhelm, but is also pleasant to enjoy for the experienced rum drinker.
